Head of Finance

On behalf of Embankment, we are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to join their growing team as Head of Finance. In this role, you will take the lead in driving financial strategy and operations while contributing to Embankment's mission of redefining the backbone of private markets through a digital-first approach. With a rapidly growing customer base, international expansion and a continuously increasing product offering, you will play a key role in shaping the financial landscape of the company.

Since then, the company has gained tremendous traction and market share, serving over 100 investment funds in Scandinavia and positioning itself for rapid expansion across Europe.

 

The position

As the Head of Finance at Embankment, you will report directly to the CEO and play a pivotal role in the company’s future growth. This is a crucial time in Embankment’s evolution, as the company scales rapidly across Europe and transitions to a more product-led marketing strategy. Your focus will be on building and optimizing financial processes, overseeing strategic planning, and executing key financial operations, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

You will take a hands-on approach in developing and refining the financial function, from implementing new processes to managing budgets, cash flow, and key financial metrics. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring the business stays on track toward its growth targets by streamlining financial operations and implementing scalable financial tools.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading financial strategy, planning, and operations across the business
• Managing financial KPIs, reports, and regular financial reviews
• Overseeing bookkeeping, external audits, and accounting functions
• Preparing financial models, conducting scenario planning, and managing excess capital
• Driving budget, liquidity, and capital management to support business growth
• Collaborating with senior leadership, including CEO, sales, operations, and tech teams
• Ensuring alignment of financial goals with broader organizational objectives
• Growing the finance team and taking on expanded responsibilities as the company scales

As Embankment continues to grow at an accelerated pace, the role of the Head of Finance will evolve, and you will have the opportunity to take on broader leadership responsibilities in areas such as investor relations, M&A, and corporate strategy. The ideal candidate will be ready to transition into these roles while maintaining operational responsibility.

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with at least 5-7 years of experience in a financial leadership role, ideally within a fast-growing startup or technology-driven company. A background in developing and managing financial functions, rather than just advising, is essential.

You will have a strong track record of managing financial operations during periods of rapid growth, including setting and tracking KPIs for both financial and broader business performance. Your ability to work internationally and across diverse branches or subsidiaries will be a significant asset.

A collaborative mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment will set you up for success in this role. You should also have excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with C-suite executives and cross-functional teams to drive organizational growth. Your experience managing small teams and developing financial systems will be crucial as Embankment continues to scale. Experience with SaaS-based business models and financial optimization for high-growth companies will also be an advantage.
