On behalf of WPP Media, we are looking for a visionary and ambitious Activation Director to further accelerate the growth momentum and lead a rejuvenated cross-channel activation team based in Aarhus. You will lead a team of 25+ specialists across Search, Social, and Programmatic and play a central role in shaping the future of bridging brand and performance marketing in the Nordics. You will influence activation at scale—working with some of the region’s leading brands, supported by a strong local leadership team, and connected to global tools, expertise, and innovation through the WPP network.

The position

As Activation Director at WPP Media in Aarhus, you will lead a cross-channel activation team of 25+ specialists across Search, Social, and Programmatic. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, building future-proof activation capabilities and ensuring a strong commercial impact across a portfolio of high-profile clients.

Your role will focus on setting a clear direction for the team, nurturing a high-performance culture, and strengthening WPP Media’s position as a leader in digital activation. You will work closely with senior stakeholders and clients to align activation strategies with business goals, while continuously evolving the team’s offering in line with industry trends and technological developments.

You will be part of the local leadership team and collaborate across functions and markets, leveraging global tools and best practices from the wider WPP network. The role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring deep activation expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to translate vision into execution.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and inspire a team of specialists and team leads within Search, Social, and Programmatic
  • Ensure operational excellence and implement scalable processes across activation delivery
  • Develop innovative activation strategies in close collaboration with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Drive innovation and identify new opportunities for performance and growth
  • Support and mentor leadership talent within the team
  • Promote a proactive, accountable, and collaborative team culture
  • You will be based in WPP Media’s Aarhus office and report to senior management in Denmark, with strong links to the Nordic and global WPP Media network.

Your profile

We are looking for a seasoned and visionary digital leader with a strong track record in activation across Search, Social, and Programmatic. You have at least 7 years of experience in digital media, including 3+ years in a senior leadership role, ideally within an agency or media group structure.

You are commercially driven, operationally sharp, and passionate about people development. You know how to manage large multidisciplinary teams and are confident working with budgets, processes, and performance targets. Your ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution makes you a trusted partner to both clients and colleagues.

To succeed in this role, you:

  • Bring deep expertise in paid media activation (Search, Social, Programmatic)
  • Have strong leadership skills and experience managing larger teams
  • Possess solid commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability
  • Are skilled in stakeholder management and client communication
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments and are motivated by growth and innovation
  • Communicate fluently in English and at least one Scandinavian language
